It’s July, folks

Well, the 4th came and went with fireworks displays everywhere. These are the days that don’t miss having a dog. My dogs hated the noise from fireworks, and would go from room to room, panting heavily, hoping that there wouldn’t be any noise in the room they entered, only to go back to another room they’d been in to see if the loud noise went away.

Last night my city had fireworks because they didn’t want to fight all the other local communities that had fireworks, do the sounds were very loud for awhile. They were less than 2 miles away, so I probably could have gone outside and seen some, but I declined. New Hampshire allows the sale of fireworks (and ownership, obviously – Live Free or Die!), so we’re treated to fireworks on most nights. What fun! It doesn’t bother me – just the ghosts of two dogs going from room to room, clicking toenails on the floor and panting.

Today’s podcast focuses on the night – mostly fireworks-free. Let’s turn down the lights and listen to the Beatles, the Kinks, Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Them, R.E.M., Patti Smith, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Van Morrison, Lou Ann Barton, Steely Dan, Allen Toussaint, the Mamas and the Papas, Ray Charles, Mink Deville, and the Electric Prunes.
